MADURAI: The interview date for candidates who applied for the Vice-Chancellor position of University of Madras is 28th July 2020, reliable sources told ‘Lotus Times’ news website today. A three-member Search Committee has already scrutinized the applications and shortlisted 12 of them for interviews.
“Communication letter was sent three days ago to the candidates who were shortlisted for the interview to be conducted on 28th July 2020 by Search Committee members. The interview letters were sent,” sources close to Higher Education Department, have confirmed today- on 20th July 2020.
Totally there were 177 applicants who applied for Madras University VC post and the Search Committee had thoroughly scrutinized each and every application based in academic professional criteria and UGC norms. “Twelve candidates will be interviewed by Search Panel members and three names will be selected to be given to Tamil Nadu Governor-Chancellor for his final decision,” official sources said.
There is lot of anxiety among several VC aspirants and in academic circles because it is a prestigious university. Now that e-mail and communication was sent to shortlisted candidates asking them to attend interview, all eyes are now on that important day- on 28th July 2020. JNU Vice-Chancellor Prof.Jagadeesh Kumar is the convener of VC Search Committee.
