MADURAI: A five-day webinar on ‘Media and Society’ is being jointly organized by the Department of Sociology, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and Department of Visual Communication of Directorate of Distance Education, Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) here from 13th July 2020.
Dr.M.Krishnan, MKU Vice-Chancellor, inaugurated the webinar today and spoke on role of media and media professionals particularly at the time of COVID-19, according to a press release from the university.
Prof.Dr.J.Vijayadurai, Director, Directorate of Distance Education, MKU, welcomed the participants of this webinar.
On the first day today, Dr.B.Geetha, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, MKU, held a session on “Infodemic Society” and expressed her views on how to handle the various types of information during the Covid-19 period.
Senior journalists and experts from the media will speak on various topics in the next four days, the press release added. The webinar has been organized by Directorate of Distance Education Assistant professors S.Saleema Rabiyath, N.Perumal, V.Thiruveni, P.Muthupandi, V.Loganathan, V.P.Prabakaran, R. Pavananthi Vembulu and G.Rajesh Kumar.
