MADURAI: An exclusive 1,000-bed special Corona care centre facility is being established at Thoppur in Madurai to admit and provide treatment to COVID-19 patients.
This large Madurai facility will be on the lines of the Delhi model where temporary arrangements were made quickly to meet the increasing number of cases and treatment requirements.
Tamil Nadu Revenue Minister Mr.R.B.Udayakumar, Health Secretary Dr.J.Radhakrishnan, Madurai District Collector Dr.T.G.Vinay and Corona Monitoring Officer for Madurai district Dr.B.Chandramohan IAS had inspected the place at Thoppur in Madurai today- 6th July 2020.
The State government and Madurai district administration have stepped up efforts to provide Corona treatment facilities, medical infrastructure and increase the number of beds available to admit COVID patients since the cases are increasing.
More than 25 Corona camps have been set up in Madurai and some college hostels were converted into temporary isolation-quarantine camps. Those with Corona symptoms are being admitted here besides GRH and private hospitals.
At Thoppur in Madurai, temporary sheds with all facilities and toilets are going to be provided for patients. In the vacant space at Thoppur Hospital here, a large facility for 1,000 beds is coming up now. Toilets and bathroom facilities separately for men and women will be there.
The PWD team was asked to submit an estimate report immediately.
