MADURAI: BJP State president Mr.L.Murugan has today urged the Tamil Nadu government to send its report to the Centre about the demand of Devendra Kula Vellalar community people to recognize them under single caste name under the MBC category.
‘There is a long pending demand from them that their seven sub-sects should be merged and collectively named as Devendra Kula Vellalar community. The BJP has accepted their request and has taken necessary steps to fulfill their request, he said in a press statement issued from Chennai on 4th July 2020.
Mr.Murugan has said that a committee was formed under the chairmanship of Mr.Hansraj Verma on 27th February 2020 to study the issue of Devendra Kula Vellalar community.
“The Tamil Nadu government should send the anthropology report to the Central government immediately and I can assure that the BJP will take quick action in this matter once the report reaches the Centre.” Mr.Murugan has said in his press release today.
He further said that the demand of Devendra Kula Vellalar community in Tamil Nadu will be fulfilled definitely because the Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi and the BJP are sensitive to demands of this community people and for their justice.
The State BJP president Mr.Murugan has also reminded that Prime Minister Mr.Modi had mentioned about Devendra Kula Vellalar community’s request in his speech in Madurai on 27th January 2020 when he came to Madurai to lay the foundation stone for All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
Devendra Kula Vellalar community representatives are pleading to recognize them as a distinct, collectively naming the seven sub-sects as Devendra Kula Vellalar and delist them from SC category.
