
MADURAI: The counting of ‘hundis’ in the famous Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple in Madurai and its sub-temples was done on 16th and 17th June 2020, according to a press release here today.
The total amount contributions through the hundis was Rs.54,40,710, a press release from Mr.K.Chellathurai, Joint Commissioner-Executive Officer of Meenakshi Temple here has informed.
Temple staff, devotees, bank employees etc were involved in the counting of temple ‘hundis’ of Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple and its sub-temples.
Hundi counting was done at Koodal Alagarkoil and temple authorities were present. The HR&CE Department took steps for the counting of ‘hundis’ where devotees make their contributions in the temple.
While there was 279 grams of gold, the hundis had 720 grams of silver, the press release from Meenakshi Temple has said. Also, there were 195 foreign currency notes.
