MADURAI: “The post of university Registrar is not my cup of tea. I love science and I want to be a professor in biotechnology. I want to contribute more to my Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) through teaching and research. This university is my bread and butter everyday,” MKU Registrar In-charge Prof.Sankar Natesan has said.

He made it clear that science and students are his priorities to concentrate and hence decided to step down from the Registrar post by giving his resignation letter on April 30th 2020 citing science, teaching and research are the reasons for his decision.

“I am making it clear again. I want to go back to my department and School of Biotechnology. Until a new person occupies the Registrar chair, I have to continue and I am just doing that. That is the rule,” Dr.Sankar Natesan who is Head of Department of Genetic Engineering at MKU and a passionate practitioner of biotechnology, told ‘Lotus Times’ website here on 18th May 2020.
He is having nine more years of service which he wants to focus on classrooms and labs.

“I have no problems at all. I am enjoying work as Registrar also. But that post is not my cup of tea. I am just continuing till a new person assumes charge after Syndicate’s decision. I will go back. My strength is my students,” Prof.Sankar Natesan has stressed.

He recalls the great work done by stalwarts and teachers of MKU in the field of science like Dr.Jayaraman, Prof.K.Dharmalingam and others.
