MADURAI: The TASMAC liquor shops in Tamil Nadu today saw the second round of opening during the present Corona lockdown following the green signal from Supreme Court yesterday.
On 16th May 2020, it was once again long queues, barricades and police presence at the TASMAC wine shops as liquor lovers turned up by sharp 10 am when the shutters were opened for sales.
In Madurai disrict, 216 government liquor shops were opened and since morning there was a rush at these outlets where tokens were given as crowd controlling measure. The wine shop near Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH)- District Collectorate here saw long queues for the bottles. Same was the case at Sellur, Kulamangalam, Jaihindpuram and other places.
There was a large presence of youngsters today in Madurai city near the wine shops. Social distancing norm was monitored by the police.
