MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association has today appealed to the Union Commerce and Industry Minister Mr.Piyush Goyal for relaxation of port restrictions imposed on peas and enable the importers to import the commodity through Tuticorin sea port without having any Minimum Import Price.
“Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has already written a letter mentioning the importance of peas and the difficulties faced by trade fraternity. Importing of peas through V.O.Chidambaranar Port Trust in Thoothukudi will help small business units. During this Corona pandemic, if the Tuticorin sea port is allocated with sufficient quantity of peas, it will help the MSMEs and the trade to survive and withstand in this difficult time,” Mr.S.P.Jeyapragasam, president, Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association, has appealed in his letter to the Union Minister on 28th April 2020.
