NO SCARCITY IN SOUTHERN DISTRICTS, SAYS MINISTER (Video)

MADURAI: Tamil Nadu Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Mr.R.B.Udhayakumar has today said that there is no scarcity or shortage of essential commodities and food grains for southern districts since the authorities are closely monitoring the supplies based on demand-supply trends.

“During the one week time from 9th April to 14th April, the East Masi Street in Madurai which is popular for wholesale shops of essential commodities had received 2,000 tonnes of commodities including dhal, rice, flour, edible oil, ‘appalam’, sugar, foodgrains, tamarind, salt etc. So, there is no shortage in this region and the requirements of southern districts will be met smoothly,” the Minister said.

Mr.R.B.Udayakumar had carried out inspection to take stock of the situation in important bazaar areas of East Marret Street-Thayir Market in Madurai today- 22nd April 2020- along with District Collector Dr.T.G.Vinay, Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan, Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association president Mr.S.P.Jeyapragasam and others.

“The cooperation from wholesale shops is good and this is due to the close monitoring by district administration and police. Today we spoke to the wholesale merchants and grocery dealers in East Masi Street. There is nothing to worry about availability and supply of essential commodities since vehicles are being given permission to meet the requirement of commodities’ supply,” the Revenue and Disaster Management Minister said here today.
