MADURAI: The disinfectants spraying capacity of Madurai Corporation got a further boost today with the addition of 100 battery operated hand spraying machines today- 20th April 2020. Also, two powerful minijet spraying units have been acquired for carrying Corona prevention- disinfection activities in wards falling under Madurai West Assembly constituency.
The machines were purchased at a cost of Rs.18 lakhs with funds provided from Madurai West MLA Constituency Development Fund.
Tamil Nadu Cooperation Minister Mr.Sellur K.Raju had formally handed over the disinfectant spraying machines to the Corporation here today in the presence of Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan and senior officials. He said that the Corporation has been effectively carrying out Coronavirus prevention activities through sanitisation works across the city in all 100 wards.
“Vegetable and fruit bags, temporary vegetable markets in school and college grounds, using BHEL-MISTER machines for spraying of disinfectant liquids etc are some of the important steps taken by the Corporation during total lockdown period now,’ Mr.Sellur K.Raju has said. Hand gloves and Personal Protection Equipment were also bought in good numbers.
Among those who were present during the Minister’s handing over of battery operated sprayers include City Engineer Mr.Arasu and senior officials Mr.Palanisamy, Mr.Premkumar, Ms.Vijaya, Mr.Sekar and PRO Mr.Chithravel.
