MADURAI: The commercial branch of Southern Railway has today – 17th April 2020 – launched a new helpline to ease the supply chain backlog that has occurred due to COVID-19 lockdown and will be available for assistance round-the-clock.
The helpline will enable customers from the States of Tamil Nadu and Kerala to call up and make an enquiry for possible transportation of the essential commodities and any other items such as PPEs, masks, medicines and other critical items, according to a press release from Southern Railway Madurai Division here today.

The helpline number 90253 – 42449 is manned by three young IRTS Trainee probationary officers. The team works as a part of SETU INITIATIVE and has been formed specifically to cater to the demands of customers in Southern Railway.
Calling this helpline and giving the requirements of tonnage to be moved will be subject to the feasibility of movement by rail from the nearest rail head. This helpline number is available only till 3rd May 2020 and will serve as one stop solution for all assistance related to booking of parcels in special parcel cargo express trains during this period of lockdown only.
