MADURAI: The Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan had today directed the civic body authorities to set up help desks in 7 places in the city since they are declared as containment areas falling in Red Zone where the houses of coronavirus positive persons are located. Through the Help Desks, the local residents’ requirements will be met.
On 17th April 2020, he along with senior officials carried out inspection in all the seven restricted areas where people were asked to confine to their homes. The seven places are:1. Mahaboobpalayam Ansari Nagar 2. Anaiyur SVP Nagar 3. Mathichiyam 4. Narimedu 5.Kuppupillai Thoppu Street near North Masi Street Crime Branch 6.Gomathipuram Yagappa Nagar 7.ThapalThanthi Nagar.
Residents of these restricted containment areas will get essential commodities-groceries through door delivery. Movement is banned for one kilometre distance while shops were instructed to deliver groceries etc at home. Disinfectants are being sprayed in all places where Corona positive cases were confirmed.
The Madurai Corporation Commissioner also went to Mahaboobpalayam Ansari Nagar where SBI Mobile ATM was pressed into service for the convenience of local residents since the area is barricaded and public movement is prohibited now.
Among those who were present during the Corporation Commissioner’s inspection include Deputy Commissioner(Law and Order) Mr.Karthik and senior corporation officials- Mr.Palanisamy, Mr.Premkumar, Mr.Arogia Xavier and Mr.Sekhar.
