MADURAI: The youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu is chalking out a strategy to take on the Chief Minister Edappadi K.Palaniswami’s decision to shift the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) from Madurai to Thanjavur.

In a few days, the party’s youth wing will take out an awareness ‘yatra’ in south Tamil Nadu to mobilise public support for ‘AIIMS for Madurai people’s movement’, Dr.S.Sankar Pandi, State Executive Member and Madurai Zonal In-Charge of the BJP Youth Wing -Tamil Nadu, has said on March 15.

The youth wing of the saffron party had already personally submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami during his visit to Madurai on March 8.

“We met him at the Madurai circuit house and pleaded with him that AIIMS hospital should not be shifted from Madurai to Thanjavur. He told us that he will look in to our memorandum and reply. We are yet to receive any communication from him. Our party’s youth wing is ready for the next course of action and we will start with awareness yatra,” Mr.Sankar Pandi has said.

He observed that murders, crime, murder for gain etc will come down if employment generation takes place in Madurai region and AIIMS would be a good chance for the youth employment.

The BJP Youth Wing also met the Madurai district collector Mr.K.Veera Raghava Rao and requested him to stand for the cause of our people since AIIMS is a national public health institution.

“The district collector listened to our plea and he also said that Madurai is a suitable place. The memorandum copy was given to our collector,” he added. The BJP youth wing is acting upon the guidance of senior leaders Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan, BJP State Secretary.

Madurai district BJP (rural) president M.Suseendran, district youth wing president Raja Sampathkumar and party leader from Tirupparankundram Mr.Ilayaraja were among those who were present when the memorandum was submitted.

The BJP youth wing will join the mass movement launched by trade body MADITSSIA along with various organisations and associations in southern districts.
