DMK ISSUES LEGAL NOTICE TO BJP; DEMANDS Rs.100 Cr

CHENNAI: The DMK has today issued legal notice to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demanding unconditional apology for some malicious tweets posted on its Twitter handle and it also demanded the BJP to pay Rs.100 crores as damages to the relief of COVID-19 patients and victims to be paid to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund.

Following a complaint by the party and DMK Organizing Secretary Mr.R.S.Bharati, the legal notice was sent by law firm P.Wilson Associates- advocate Rciahrdson Wilson- P.Wilson on 1st April 2020. The legal notice cited the names of BJP National President Mr.J.P.Nadda, Tamil Nadu BJP State president Mr.L.Murugan and Twitter.

TWEETS ON 31st MARCH 2020:

The legal notice sent by the DMK has pointed out that the BJP in Tamil Nadu had made a derogatory tweet about the contribution of Rs.One crore made by DMK president Mr.M.K.Stalin to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund for the purpose of Coronavirus prevention and relief measures.  

“The tweets are false, malicious, scandalous, defamatory, derogatory and to lower the reputation of the DMK and its president Mr.Stalin in the eyes of the general public. The BJP must tender unconditional apology for the tweet…..It should pay Rs.100 crores (as damages) to the TN Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund,” the legal notice pointed out.

The legal notice also asked the BJP to desist from tweeting to defame the DMK. “BJP should know that the Rs.One crore was donated by DMK Trust through Mr.Stalin…..We demand an apology or otherwise the DMK will be constrained to initiate civil and criminal action,” the notice said.
