MADURAI: ‘Paravai’ Muniamma, a popular folk songs exponent, singer and an ever enthusiastic woman who gave superb stage shows with her rural songs, had passed away in Madurai on 29th March 2020. She is about 80 years old.
Paravai Muniamma was suffering from illness and had been undergoing treatment for kidney ailment. She acted in popular Tamil films also starting with ‘Dhool’ etc. The well-known Tamil folk singer acted in 50 films and had given 2,000 stage shows, Since she was born in a village called Paravai near Madurai and attained fame, she became popular as ‘Paravai’ Muniamma.
Even though she had died, her voice and on stage active singing for rural folk will always be remembered.
