MADURAI: Lawyers and senior advocates have strongly opposed the announcement of making former Chief Justice of India Mr.Ranjan Gogoi as a nominated MP of Rajya Sabha.
Talking to reporters in Madurai on 18th March 2020, the All India Lawyers Association State general secretary Mr.Muthu Amuthan has condemned the decision to make Justice Ranjan Gogoi as nominated member of Rajya Sabha and he also criticised Mr.Ranjan Gogoi for accepting the RS nomination.
“We have to protect the independence of Indian judiciary….Judges should not get into under any influence. But now the Centre is trying to interfere and is attempting to take judiciary into its hands……We urge Justice Ranjan Gogoi to reject the Rajya Sabha nomination,” Mr.Muthu Amuthan has said talking to reporters at Madurai district court on 18th March 2020.
