MADURAI: Hundreds of Muslims including a large number of women and children are continuing with their protest and opposition to the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and NPR – of BJP-led Narendra Modi Government at the Centre.
On 18th March 2020, they had gathered under the auspices of Muslim Jamaath and Muslim leaders in Madurai city rasing slogans against the implementaiton of CAA and NPR. At the same time, they had also made it clear that their priority will be to join the efforts of government in preventing the spread of Coronavirus- COVID-19- in this area though public awareness and preventive measures.
“The Central Government should repeal the CAA…….Muslims and other minorities are concerned with this draconian Act. The Tamil Nadu State Government should oppose CAA-NPR-NRC- in the Assembly by passing a resolution and forwarding it to the Centre,” Jamaath representative Mr.Suleiman told reporters here today.
Mr.Suleimaan has said that Muslims are protesting in a silent manner at various places in the State and hence police or anyone else should not behave like a dictator towards them.
