MADURAI: The ‘Roundtanas’ – traffic circles – in Madurai city will not be just a mere traffic purpose ones because the Madurai Corporation is going to use the inside space in these roundtanas for very good purpose.
Cooperation Minister Mr.Sellur K Raju has said today – 8th March 2020- that in each roundtana there will be something educative and informative that highlights the greatness of Madurai city.
Today, the Minister had inspected the newly constructed traffic roundtana in Sellur here where he said that the traditional Kabaddi game will be highlighted from that circle since many kabaddi players had come from that area in Madurai. The roundtana was constructed at a cost of Rs.42 lakhs. It will be a recognition and encouragement for those who played Kabaddi and to those who are now playing.
Likewise, the other roundtanas too will highlight other important things. For instance the roundtana at Aarapalayam will focus ‘Jallikattu’ while the Fatima College roundtana will highlight the famous Madurai Meenakshi Temple ‘Ther’, a press release from the Corporation has said today.
Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.S.Visakan, Chief Engineer Mr.Arasu and senior officials besides representatives of sports association were among those present during the Minister’s inspection.
