MADURAI: Hundreds of Muslims including women and children took part in a dharna organized at Vilachery in Madurai today- on 1st March 2020- by Madurai Jamath, demanding the Central government to withdraw and repeal the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) – NRC- NPR.
A large number of Msulims turned up to the call given by Madurai Jamath and protested against the CAA by stating that all religions and all castes have an equal place in India.
“India is a multi-colour country……This is a nation with principles following socialism and equality in a democracy……So, we Muslims urge the Central and State governments to focus on people’s welfare schemes instead of creating a divide between people. India has always been a peaceful country,” Muslim Jamath president Mr.Fakhruddin Chelliah and former president Mr.Mohd.Saleem said in their appeal while addressing the protest meeting and later talking to the mediapersons.
