MADURAI: At the important Goripalayam in Madurai city, two new bridges will be constructed as a four-way lane to ease traffic congestion near the famous A.V.Bridge here.
Minister for Cooperation Mr.Sellur K Raju told reporters in Madurai today – 28th February 2020- that steps are being taken to construct two new bridges and permission was sought already. The estimate is Rs.300 crores.
He said this at the commencing of work for a new road in Jaihindpuram area coming up at a cost of Rs.70 lakhs. “Due to some technical administrative hurdles, delay took place. Near the Thevar statue -AV Bridge in Goripalayam, new bridges will come up,” the Minister said.
Mr.Sellur K Raju also said that the new bridge works at Kaalavasal in the city are getting delayed only because of pipeline leakage. Smart City works in Madurai are being undertaken with an allocation of Rs.1,500 crores, he added.
