MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry has welcomed the State Budget 2020-21 presented in the Assembly by Finance Minister Mr.O.Paneerselvam today stating that its development growth oriented proposals such as mega food parks, eight agro-processing zones, medical colleges in 11 districts etc are good features.
The Chennai-Kanyakumari economic corridor scheme and other announcements for agriculture and farming sector development were welcomed by the chamber.
Mr.N.Jegatheesan, president, Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Mr.S.Rethinavelu, senior president, in a press release here today, had however, observed it is distressing that there is no mention for Madurai-Tuticorin industrial corridor and various other expected projects.
The chamber has said that the Tamil Nadu 2020-21 budget failed to announce METRO RAIL project for Madurai which is an important city in the State. The chamber stated that metro rail will benefit people of southern districts who visit Madurai daily for various works.
