MADURAI: There are totally 26,43,305 voters in Madurai district as per the final publication of electoral rolls on 14th February 2020.
Of this total number, the number of male voters are 13,02,700 and the number of women voters is13,40,435. There are 170 transgender voters.
Madurai district Collector Dr.T.G.Vinay had today released the final voter list at the collectorate here today as per the directions of Election Commission of India after taking into account the inclusions and deletions.
Following the draft electoral roll released on 23rd December 2019, the authorities took steps to prepare the final list for 10 Assembly constituencies – Melur, Madurai East, Sholavandhan, Madurai North, Madurai South, Madurai West, Madurai central, Tiruparankundram, Tirumangalam and Usilampatti.
Around 80,000 representations for changes were received from voters. As on the said date, 24,500 new voters who completed 18 years of age were included.
Also, steps have been taken to issue Braille voter cards to visually challenged persons.
