DINDIGUL: In a tragic incident today, a pregnant woman died after she fell from a two-wheeler after a speeding jeep hit their vehicle. The woman, Mariammal, was nine months pregnant. Her husband Easwaran had sustained grievous injuries.
The incident took place at Andipatti village in Palani taluk on 6th February 2020. As per information available, the couple were going to a Primary Health Centre for final check-up since Mariammal was nine months pregnant.
When they reached Papampatti village in Dindigul district their two-wheeler was hot by a Bolero vehicle coming in the opposite direction. While Mariammal died after she was shifted to a hospital, her husband is undergoing treatment in ICU at Palani Government Hospital.
Villagers and family members are grieving the death of woman and the baby in her womb. Police have registered a case and are investigating.
