MADURAI: Senior health department officials and airport authorities in Madurai have taken lot of precautionary measures to thwart the threat of Coronavirus which is creating panic among people.
“In Madurai district, we are on alert mode and surveillance has been stepped up from Madurai airport. People should not panic now and our department teams are on alert at various airports including Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore and Trichy in Tamil Nadu,” Dr.Sampath, Joint Director of Health Services, Madurai district, told reporters at Madurai airport today January 31st 2020.
Medical teams are screening the passengers on arrival and those coming from China are being tested.
The Madurai airport authorities and CISF personnel are involved in this precautionary drive to prevent coronavirus by conducting screening of passengers at the airport here.
Deputy Director of Health Services (Madurai district) Dr.Priya Raj, Dr.Thangasamy, Dr.Sivakumar and others are also closely monitoring with special medical teams.
