MADURAI: Sugarcane farmers in Tamil Nadu have staged a protest demonstration on 25th January 2020 condemning the visit of Brazil president Mr.Jair Bolsonaro to India who is coming as chief guest for tomorrow’s Republic Day.
Members of Tamil Nadu Sugarcane Growers Association had staged a protest before National Cooperative Sugar Mills sugar factory in Alanganallur near Madurai today stating that the Brazilian president’s remarks against Indian sugarcane is not in the interest of sugarcane farmers here.
Advocate Mr.Palanisamy, president of Tamil Nadu Sugarcane Growers and Farmers Association, led the agitation today in support of farmers who are worried about their livelihood. They also demanded that the arrears due to them and minimum support price to sugarcane farmers must be released immediately.
