MADURAI: The people of Madurai and devotees of famous Tirupparankundram Murugan temple here have a good news because a think tank is getting into action mode.
An expert team is all set to take up steps to rejuvenate temple tank by cleaning, groundwater recharge and water purification initiative model in Tiruparankundram temple tank in Madurai, thanks to the initiative of scientific team of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Government of India, with the support of district administration.
BARC senior scientist (TCW) Mr. J. Daniel Chellappa, from Chennai, who had inspected the temple tank on 23rd January 2020 along with Madurai district collector Dr.T.G.Vinay, told reporters that groundwater recharge measures, water purification and focus on flora and fauna will be taken up so that static and stagnant water will not be there.
Complaints and suggestions from devotees to do something to clean Tiruparankundram temple tank were received by Madurai district administration and HR&CE Department. A report was submitted three months back giving a plan of action for cleaning this temple tank.
“This is one of the first efforts in a temple in a scientific manner. This should be a successful model and we will put efforts to make Tiruparankundram temple tank cleaning model a success,” Mr.Daniel Chellappa has said in Madurai on 23rd January 2020 Thursday.
