MADURAI: Farmers in Madurai district today paid tributes and respects to famed British civil engineer John Pennycuick (1841-1911) who was instrumental in building the MullaPeriyar Dam that is meeting the water needs of Madurai region.
On Pongal festival day today, representatives of several farmers associations and people from various villages paid respects to John Pennnycuick at Usilampatti in Madurai district on the occasion of his birth anniversary 15th January 2020.
Among those who recalled Pennycuick’s contribution to Tamil Nadu were members of 58 Grama Pasana Vivasayigal Sangam and by Mr.Sivaprakash, Udhayakumar and others.
