MADURAI: Thousands of participants from students to senior citizens had turned out for the ‘The Madurai Marathon 2020’ organized by Devadoss Hospitals here on 5th January 2020 morning with an important theme call saying ‘Run to Save a Life.’
More than 5,000 marathon participants from various schools, colleges, voluntary organisations, retired professionals and society conscious people from various walks of life took part in the marathon which began from the hospital situated at Surveyor Colony in Madurai city.
“Be a hero and save a life was the ultimate message of our marathon….Our medical experts spoke about first aid, how to save a person, about Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) etc. There were 5,300 participants and we were happy that visually challenged persons also participated,” a representative of Devadoss Multi-Specialty Hospitals told ‘Lotustimes’ news website.
8 TO 80 YEARS TOOK PART:
The marathon run was held for 5 kms and 10 kms distance. Prizes were given to the winners and certificates to participants. Ministers Mr.R.B.Udhaya Kumar, Mr.Sellur K. Raju and Madurai District Collector Dr.T.G.Vinay were among those who were invited to motivate the marathon participants and give a public call to them to save a life in an emergency.
Dr.A.Devadoss, Founder and Chairman, Devadoss Multi-Specialty Hospitals, Madurai, Dr.Sathish Devadoss, Medical Director, Dr.Hema Sathish, Managing Director of the hospital, were among those present to encourage the Madurai Marathon 2020 participants.
