MADURAI: Arrangements for holding the famous ‘Jallikattu’ (bull taming) event at Palamedu near here have begun. Nearly 700 bulls will be registered for taking part in this festive event to be held on 16th January 2020.
A special organizing committee is taking care of the preparations at Palamedu which is an important part of ‘Pongal’ festival in Tamil Nadu and draws large number of visitors to witness ‘Jallikattu’.
Colourful decoration at the starting point and visitors galleries will be ready in a few days. Barricading of the place where Jallikattu will take place has commenced. Participants will be given attractive prizes.
The Madurai district administration is taking all steps for safe conduct of Palamedu jallikattu. Municipal authorities are taking care of sanitation and cleanliness works.Committee president Rajendran, secretary Velu, treasurer Manohar Velpandian and others are supervising the preparations.
