MADURAI: The Bharatiya Janata Party today demanded the arrest of platform speaker Nellai Kannan (who is presumed to be in Congress party), for his instigating, defamatory and provocative speech against the Prime Minister and Home Minister in a public meeting.
Urging the Tamil Nadu police to act swiftly and take action against Nellai Kannan, the BJP State Secretary Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan said here that ‘the speech was a clear case of instigating violence because he is provoking people gathered at that meeting on the issue of NRC, instigating Muslims on a sensitive issue.’ Rural local body elections are now underway in Tamil Nadu held in two phases on December 27th and 30th 2019.
“Nellai Kannan must be arrested as per law…..He should also openly apologize for his highly provocative comments about our Home Minister Mr.Amit Shah. Since the issue is very sensitive, police should take action.
Our police should not be mute spectators in this case. On behalf of the BJP, I condemn Nellai Kannan’s speech and police must take cognizance of the speech content,” BJP leader Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan demanded while talking to ‘Lotus Times’ news website today – 30th December 2019.
