Apollo Madurai harvests EVH technique for cardiac

MADURAI: The Apollo Speciality Hospitals in Madurai, which is a pioneer in heart care, has introduced Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting (EVH) said to be a boon for cardiac patients.

Cardiothoracic surgeon Dr.V.Sridhar and Apollo team had successfully done EVH procedure on a patient recently and this endoscopy method has lot of advantages since it reduces pain trauma, assures only minimal scar and quicker healing, according to a press release here today – November 21st 2019.

Dr.V.Sridhar, senior cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr.Rohini Sridhar, Chief Operating Officer, Apollo Speciality Hospitals, Madurai, Mr.Samuel, Senior General Manager (operations) and Dr.Renuka Devi, physician assistant in cardiothoracic department, have addressed a press conference here today to explain about the EVH procedure. 
 
“With the advancement of technology in cardiac care, our Apollo in Madurai too has introduced EVH. This is a new technique in our hospital here thereby taking us to a new league in Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG),” the hospital press release had stated. 
 
Faster wound healing, early walking, reduced risk of infection, minimal scar and less pain due to precise harvesting are the stated advantages. “The cardiothoracic department of Apollo Speciality had introduced EVH and we are one among the few centres doing this procedure,” the release said.
