MADURAI: A cow protection shelter situated on the banks of River Cauvery at holy Govindapuram – Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu is appealing to benevolent donors for their financial support to meet financial needs to maintain the ‘Sri Gokulam Goshala’ under the aegis of Sri Panduranga Charities started by Sri Vittaldas Maharaj who is very well known for his bhajans.

In aid of this ‘Goshala’ which is a cow protection project, fund-raising events are being organised from 15th to 17th November 2019 at Mulund and Vile Parle in Mumbai. Donations are eligible for 80G tax exemption.

600 COWS ARE THERE IN THIS GOSHALA:

Mr.C.Subramaniam, who is doing welfare initiatives through Subramaniam Charities, told ‘Lotustimes‘ news website over phone from Mumbai today that the Kumbakonam Goshala is preventing slaughtering of holy cows by taking care of them in a protected shelter.

“There are more than 600 cows sheltered by Vittaldas Maharaj….90 per cent of them are out of milking age and we need to take care of them from getting slaughtered outside…. It is a service effort…..There is nothing commercial there and all cow derivatives are given to villagers….The monthly expenses to maintain this noble cause is coming to several lakhs of rupees every month…..So, we are looking at CROWD FUNDING to raise funds from philanthropic individuals to feed the cows in Kumbakonam,” Mr.Subramaniam said from Mumbai.

The ‘Goshala’ needs funds to pay for daily expenses to feed the cows, pay to veterinarians etc, staff etc. If a person pays Rs.1,000 or Rs.2,000 per month, it is our currency saving the cow.
