THANJAVUR: Tyagaraja Swami (1767-1847). If we are today soothed by Carnatic concerts, composers, renditions and musical concerts, it is destination Tiruvaiyaru in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu because the ‘Keerthanas’ came from this river Cauvery bed.
The place where the immense Lord Rama devotee Saint Tyagaraja was born is now getting ready for the 173rd year of saint Tyagaraya attaining ‘Siddhi’ on the banks of Cauvery river to be held on 15th January 2020.
THE HEREDITARY IS READY:
“We are now the fifth generation to continue Saint Tyagaraya’s ‘Unchavirithi’. His temple and samadhi maintenance with daily pooja is being done without break since his attaining of Siddhi. As his hereditary family members we are maintaining his temple-‘samadhi’ and he is seen here by his devotees.” Mr.S.Thiyagarajan, one of the family descendants of composer Saint Tyagaraja, told ‘Lotustimes‘ news website today November 13th 2019.
Sathguru Tyagaraja Swami lived in Tiruvaiyaru for 80 years worshipping Lord Sri Rama. He composed over 24,000 ‘keerthanas’ and is well-known that he had the Darshan of Lord Rama. In 1847, he attained ‘Siddhi’ and his Samadhi in Tiruvaiyaru is an important destination for Carnatic musicians, Keerthana lovers, Lord Rama devotees and spiritual persons.
ON ‘PUSHYA BAHULA PANCHAMI’:
On 15th January 2020, Sri Thiyagabrahma Parampara Aradhana events will be performed by Saint Tyagaraja’s family members on ‘Pushya Bahula Panchami’ Wednesday by doing various ‘homams and paarayanams.’ Voluntary donations have been sought from devotees. Several poojas and devotional programs have been lined up from January 11th to 15th 2020.
