MADURAI: The name is Family Planning Association of India (FPAI). Its duty is to conduct family planning surgeries for men and women in its medically monitored well-equipped clinical facility.
But unfortunately, the Madurai branch of FPAI had to stop family planning surgeries for the past two years due to one complaint by a person and it is waiting for Madurai District Collector’s permission to restart the family planning surgery procedure in its premises here.
APPEAL TO COLLECTOR:
Sources told ‘Lotus Times’ news website on October 31st 2019 that a Muslim family had complained to then Collector Mr.K.Veera Raghava Rao two years ago about some complicated procedure done by FPAI Madurai. The SDPI outfit added more to it and the permission was stopped.
“FPAI Madurai had explained then to the Collector….But some people extended pressure on the district administration to stop family planning operations being done by us…..We are now waiting to restart and have already gave representations to Madurai district collectors….,” a staff member at FPAI member has said.
This premier organisation in the field of family planning activities is a leading facility in Madurai doing over 3,500 FP surgeries per year on an average. It’s success rate is over 90 per cent and has been a leading institution in family planning.
When contacted, FPAI Madurai Branch In-charge Mr.S.Prathiban has said that “we are following the order of Madurai district Collector…..and as soon as we get permission we will restart family planning surgeries…..We gave a representation already and again we will meet the collector soon….Hope we will get green signal from Madurai district collector”.
