MADURAI: The ‘People Connect’ program undertaken by Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu, to commemorate the commencing of 50th year of Vivekananda Rock Memorial, has received overwhelming response in Madurai on September 18th 2019 Wednesday.
This year long people-connect drive with slogan ‘Ek Bharat Vijay Bharat‘ is being conducted at various places and the same was held at Madura College in Madurai city to spread the message of Swami Vivekananda that “we should give our some time to do some good work for our society because ‘service to man is service to God.’
MESSAGE OF PATRIOTISM AND SERVICE:
The Madurai Branch of Vivekananda Kendra had organized a special programme at Madura College here in which the Chairman and Managing Director of Vadamalayan Hospitals Dr.Pugalagiri Vadamalayan, presided over and was attended by Selvi. B.Radha Devi, Southern India Coordinator of Vivekananda Kendra, Kanniyakumari.
‘Ek Bharat Vijay Bharat’ programme began on September 2nd 2019 to commemorate the 50th year of Vivekananda Rock Memorial. President of India Mr.Ramnath Kovind, Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi and Vice-President Mr.M.Venkaiah Naidu were among those who commenced the nation-wide campaign, after which the Governor of Tamil Nadu Mr.Banwari Lal Purohit gave for State-wide momentum to carry out this mission in at different places in Tamil Nadu.
Prof.J.Suresh, Principal, The Madura College, Madurai, Dr.R.Subramoni, Head of Department of English, Prof.K.Muthuvel, Vice-Principal, others addressed the students and a large gathering of people at this important event.
NATION IS OUR PASSION:
According to Dr.S.Geetha, Coordinator of Vivekananda Kendra activities in Madurai, the only objective of this campaign is to take the message of Swami Vivekananda to common people and our youth that patriotism and service are the ultimate things in life.
“Students are showing lot of interest to know more about Swami Vivekananda. We also want to reach all sections and all age-groups of society – from youth to elderly. Also, we are meeting various working groups such as merchants and traders in Madurai area. Nation is our passion and that is the purpose of this ‘Sampark’,” said Dr.S.Geetha in Madurai, after the event in The Madura College here.
The message of ‘Oneness of Mankind’, the inspiring story of Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari, activities of Vivekananda Kendra besides the teachings of our ‘Patriotic Monk’ are being highlighted through these ‘People Connect’ meetings in Tamil Nadu.
