MADURAI: Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay. This name became popular in the last five years across the country, especially in legal circles.
Yes. this Delhi-based advocate and BJP leader has shown an effective way to protect people’s interests by filing PILs (Public Interest Litigation) in Courts on wide range of issues – from weeding out corruption, Article 35 A and Article 370 of our Constitution, curbing black money, Triple Talaq, polygamy, human rights, electoral reforms, gender justice and what not. His success through PILs in Supreme Court earned him the sobriquet ‘PIL Man’ and he believes that PIL is the best pill to end all ills in our socio-political domain.

Mr.Ashwini Upadhyay spoke to ‘Lotus Times’ during his visit to Madurai on Sept 14th 2019.
“Tamil Nadu is in our core agenda. We wish to serve Tamil brothers and sisters. We are confident that the brothers and sisters in this State will soon realize that BJP will be the best choice for them. Since the party leadership in Tamil Nadu is connecting to every mandal and booth level, things will certainly improve in next two or three years,” he had exuded confidence.
Stating that plenty of Central government schemes are coming to Tamil Nadu, Mr.Aswini Upadhyay said that the distinction between Central and State schemes is still not known to people here and hence local parties are taking advantage of that.
“I came to know that unfortunately our PM Modiji government’s schemes are not fully going in the name of Central government. Tamil Nadu is a focus area and certainly the BJP can take on the Dravidian parties in coming years,” he added.
MESSAGE TO BJP LEGAL CELL AND LEADERS:

The PIL king, who is also a party spokesperson in Delhi BJP, had suggested to the members of BJP Legal Cell and party leaders here to move PILs in High Court because approaching the court through a PIL will help in people’s empowerment and development.
“I request our Tamil Nadu BJP leaders to conduct brainstorming sessions on the issue of PILs so that awareness could be created. “I filed over 50 PILs so far. I was the first to challenge instant Triple Talaq. If any assistance is needed in any issue regarding PILs, I am ready to help,” said Mr.Ashwini Upadhyay.
Earlier, Tamil Nadu BJP State Secretary and Madurai Zone In-Charge Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan met him and informally discussed about various issues and PILs.
