MADURAI: There is a good news from Madurai for veterinary care as latest technology has been blended with traditional knowledge to provide animal care through online mode.

Madurai based non-governmental organization SEVA (Sustainable Agriculture and Environment Voluntary Action) has prepared ‘SEVA Vetbot App’ and this app is being launched in three languages on April 25th 2025 at the Bangalore International Centre in Bengaluru. The three languages are Tamil, Kannada and English.

“By documenting traditional knowledge in livestock management over the last three decades, we are coming out with SEVA Vetbot App which helps livestock owners find herbal treatments for common animal illnesses. It supports farmers in rural areas who lack access to affordable veterinary care. Users can ask questions in Tamil, Kannada or English using text or voice. The platform uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to suggest treatment from the database of traditional practices. This app facility is available through a chatbot, it is currently being tested with over 500 field workers, and plans are in place to reach one million users by the year 2030,” Mr.P.Vivekanandan of SEVA in Madurai, has said while giving information about the AI veterinary assistant facility.
