MADURAI: A free screening checkup camp for identifying bone mineral density among aged persons and orthopedic patients was conducted by Sugapriya Hospital situated at K.K.Nagar Lake View Road near Sundaram Park in Madurai today-March 23rd 2025.

Orthopaedic surgeon Dr.K.Mithun Prakash and his team had examined the people who turned up for the camp and he gave easy to understand medical advise on how to maintain bones strength and good ortho health.

“Our advise is that those who are above 30 years of age must go for the bone mineral density checkup. Right intervention at right time can address the problems like osteoporosis etc. Calcium level in body is very important for bone strength. One reason for weak bones is low exposure to sunlight. These days, people are confined to closed rooms and chair. As an orthopedic doctor, I advise people to do some physical exercises in sunlight so that they will not have Vitamin D deficiency,” Dr.Mithun Prakash has said talking to media reporters today at the camp held in the hospital premises.

He also gave a dietary advise saying that a balanced diet with protein rich food will help maintaining the bone strength in our body.

T.Murugesan, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Sugapriya Hospital, K.Sivagnanam, PRO and V.Selvaraj were present. “Our hospital chairman Dr.V.V.M.Anand is very particular that special camps should be conducted regularly for the benefit of people. While screening is done free, the hospital gives concession for medical tests etc,” Mr.Murugesan added.
