MADURAI: The reasons for starting ‘Lotus Times’ news website in English through Shastry V Mallady from Madurai were highlighted to the BJP functionaries of Madurai region by party State Secretary and Madurai Region In-Charge Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan here on March 3rd 2019 Sunday.
“Lotus Times is a BOTTOM-UP APPROACH for a communication system….Now, we get to know what is happening at national and State level in our party through the top down channel…….But there is no chance for us to showcase our activities from places like Madurai to our top leadership in Delhi / State-level etc. So, the Lotus Times website was started in English two years back – in March 2017 – so that through our reports / documentation / videos and photos, we can tell at national / State level what is being by our party’s active cadres here,” he had explained.

The BJP State Secretary, who actually toyed the idea of having an exclusive news forum for the party two years back in the form of an e-magazine, has expressed happiness that a website took shape from his suggestion and it had completed two years.
“Another reason is we are able to record / document some important social economic issues in our region and take them to Government’s attention / officials’ intervention and to our party leaders for their understanding of our people’s wants, ” Prof.Dr.Srinivasan added.
Granite quarries’ issue and demand to reopen them for the benefit of hapless jobless people in Madurai district (Melur area), Sivakasi fireworks industry issues, social – caste – community demands were among those highlighted in the Lotus Times website www.lotustimes.org.

BJP district presidents in Madurai Region took part in the felicitation function for Lotus Times. Madurai Rural district president Mr.Maha.Suseendhran, Virudhunagar district president Mr.Solaiappan, Dindigul district president Mr. S.K.Palaniswamy and others spoke.
The BJP’s IT Team district president Mr.Senthil Alagar in Madurai made a very good video presentation of excerpts on party’s activities in Madurai Urban and Madurai Rural districts through videos uploaded on Lotus Times news website.
