MADURAI: Tamil Nadu BJP State general secretary Prof.Raama Sreenivasan had written a letter to Chief Ministers of all States in the country requesting them to introduce Tamil as a third language in schools in their States.
He pointed out in his letter that by including Tamil as an optional third language in the school curriculum, the students of other States will be able to connect with one of India’s richest and cultural heritage by learning Tamil which is not just a language but a treasure because Tamil is a classical language of India and one of the oldest living languages in the world with 2,000 years of uninterrupted literary tradition and contributions like ‘Thirukkural’ etc.
Prof.Raama Sreenivasan had released copies of his letter to CMs including Kerala Chief Minister Mr.Pinarayi Vijayan at a press meet in Madurai on March 6th 2025 after launching the BJP’s signature campaign in Madurai city today in support of three-language policy which was recommended in the National Education Policy (NEP).
“Even after repeatedly responding to the DMK and Tamil Nadu State government that the third language need not be Hindi, they are not prepared to correct their wrong stand on three language policy. The emphasis on third language in every State is not essentially Hindi, but it shall be any one of the Indian languages. The DMK government in Tamil Nadu is misquoting this and doing big injustice to Tamil Nadu. In this backdrop, I am humbly requesting the other States CMs to take steps for introducing Tamil as third optional language in schools. It is our duty to prove that our critics are wrong when they propagate that three-language policy is Hindi imposition,” the Tamil Nadu BJP leader has said in his letter and also pointed out how Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi has complimented Tamil language many times from global platforms by quoting Tamil scriptures.
BJP Madurai city unit president Mr.C.M.Mari Chakkaravarthi and party cadres took part in the signature campaign drive at Simmakkal area here today morning- March 6th 2025- in response to the call given by BJP State president Mr.K.Annamalai in favour of three-language policy.
