‘CM PHARMACIES’ opened in Tamil Nadu to provide medicines at low prices; 51 CM medical shops in Madurai district and 1,000 in TN

MADURAI: In an important public health policy initiative taken by the State government, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr.M.K.Stalin had formally inaugurated the much awaited ‘Mudhalvarin Marundhagam’-CM Pharmacy or CM Medical Shop- today February 24th 2025.

While the Chief Minister Mr.M.K.Stalin had opened the shops from Chennai, the inauguration of CM’s Pharmacies in Madurai today morning was attended by Ministers Mr.P.Moorthy and Mr.P.T.R.Palanivel Thiyagarajan along with Madurai District Collector Ms.M.S.Sangeetha, Madurai Corporation Mayor Ms.Indirani Ponvasanth and Madurai Corporation Commissioner Ms.Chithra Vijayan besides MLAs and senior officials from health department, cooperatives department and the corporation.

Totally 1,000 CM Pharmacies were opened today of which 500 medical shops are through cooperatives department and the remaining 500 by interested entrepreneurs who wanted to be involved in this health project. This project took shape following an announcement by Chief Minister Mr.M.K.Stalin in his Independence Day speech last year to help the poor, needy and deserving people and all others who require medicines.

In Chennai, there will be 33 CM Pharmacies at various places including Kolathur, T.Nagar and Alwarpet where generic medicines will be available at low prices, subsidized rates thanks to the DMK government of Mr.M.K.Stalin. In Madurai district, the CM Pharmacies are at Aarapalayam, Villapuram, Shenoy Nagar, Alanganallur and other places. Qualified pharmacists will be available in these medical shops.

Generic medicines will be procured by the State government through Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation and steps have been taken to provide other medical items, diagnostic needs, Siddha, Ayurveda, Unani etc by procuring them through the TN cooperative society.
