MADURAI: The Madurai Railway Division of Southern Railway had bagged six efficiency shields for the year 2023-24 and they were presented by Southern Railway General Manager Mr.R.N.Singh at the 69th Railway Week celebrations held in Chennai on January 30th 2025.
The shields were presented for the Madurai Division’s outstanding performance in engineering, operations, signal and telecommunications, personnel, medical and divisional stores, according to a railway press release received here yesterday.
On behalf of the Madurai Division, the railway officials received the awards-Mr.M.Karthik, senior divisional engineer (coordination), Mr.V.Prasanna, senior divisional operations manager, Mr.R.Ramprasath, senior divisional signal and telecommunication engineer, Mr.T.Sankaran, divisional personnel officer, Mr.M.Baskaran, chief medical superintendent and Mr.Shailesh Kumar Maurya, senior divisional materials manager.

The railway press release also informed that one officer and seven staff members from Madurai Division of Southern Railway had received the ‘Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar’ for their commendable performance in the year 2024. The awardees were Mr.R.Ramprasath, senior divisional signal and telecommunication engineer, Mr.O.Satheesh, catering inspector, Mr.S.R.Shaju, loco pilot passenger/motorman, Mr.A.Ayyasamy, senior assistant loco pilot, Giriraj Meena, assistant/TMC, Mr.M.Manthira Moorthy, senior section engineer (carriage and wagon), Tirunelveli, Mr.R.Murugesan, traffic inspector-Tirunelveli and R.Sudha, chief office superintendent.
The Southern Railway General Manager Mr.R.N.Singh congratulated the awardees for making significant contribution to the growth and efficiency of railways. He also appreciated the railway divisions and railway workshops for their meritorious performance.
Mr.Kaushal Kishore,Additional General Manager, Southern Railway, Mr.Harikrishnan, Principal Chief Personnel Officer and senior railway officials were present at the awards presentation function, the press release added.
