CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Governor Mr.R.N.Ravi has paid floral tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his 128th birth anniversary today- January 23rd 2025 which is observed as ‘Parakram Diwas’- at Raj Bhavan in Chennai.

Later, while addressing a large gathering of students and faculty at Bharathidasan University event in Tiruchi, he said that the India got Independence in the year 1947 only because of Netaji’s INA and not because of Quit India Movement that took place in the year 1942.

“The British left India in 1947 and we got our country’s freedom. If Netaji were not there with his Indian National Army (INA) soldiers, we would not have become independent and got our freedom in 1947. It would have taken a much longer time. The early exit by the British was only because of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. This is a fact and it is there in history records about the conversation between former British Prime Minister Mr.Atlee and Bengal governor Chakravarthi,” the Tamil Nadu Governor Mr.R.N.Ravi has said today quoting from old records dating back to 1956.

“In 1956, Atlee was not British PM…he was on a visit to India. And, at Raj Bhavan in Kolkata, Justice Chakravarthy who was Bengal Governor at that time had a conversation with Atlee and it was a recorded conversation on why and how the British had left quickly. The reason stated by British PM Atlee was that they feared the INA revolt of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and not the 1942 Quit India Movement. The British had left in a hurry only because of Bose because the Indian soldiers and INA fighters were waging a great battle for our country’s freedom from the British rule. The British rulers got panicky after seeing the Indian soldiers in British army raising their voice for India’s Independence. The British got scared of their lives in India beause of INA revolt led by Netaji Bose, and they did a great work from Singapore and other places. That was how Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose had inspired and liberated India from the British rule. If your want to know all the details, read Fali Nariman’s book called ‘The State of the Nation’ and it is there in Page 119,” the Tamil Nadu Governor Mr.R.N.Ravi has said today about the conversation between British PM Atlee and then Bengal governor Chakravarth and he paid tributes to the INA veterans who fought during the Indian freedom struggle.
