MADURAI: An awareness programme on POSH Act (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) and violence against women was organized by Vaigai College of Engineering in the college campus at Therkutheru near Madurai yesterday-January 9th 2025.
This program was conducted jointly by the Internal Complaints Committee, Women Empowerment Cell and POSH Cell by inviting advocate K.Samidurai, State president, Indian Association of Lawyers-Madurai, as resource person to address the faculty, staff and students of the college.
Mr.Samidurai had emphasized the importance of POSH Act in fostering safer workplaces for women, to protect women from sexual harassment and he also highlighted the awareness needed to combat gender based violence and ensure an inclusive society.
“The programme is aimed to educate the participants about POSH Act and how to prevent sexual harassment, violence against women,” Dr.R.Sivaranjani, convener, POSH Cell, Vaigai College of Engineering, has said.
Faculty members of the college including Dr.M.K.V.Karthikeyan, HoD-Mech and Mrs.N.A.Papathi, HoD-ECE were in the organizing committee for this awareness programme which also had an interaction session with students by the resource person.
