MADURAI: The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) has been utilizing its full Constitutional powers to ensure safety, security and justice for people belonging to Scheduled Castes and KERALA & WEST BENGAL are particularly two States where it had focused with many SC families in Kerala getting compensated due to the Commission’s quick intervention in last one year.
“We are focusing on whether SC community people are facing social atrocities, whether they are receiving benefits of PM Modi’s exclusive welfare schemes or not. I took action in many cases and I am regularly monitoring with State governments through district-level reviews. The confidence level of SCs is increasing,” Mr.L.Murugan, Vice-Chairman, NCSC, New Delhi, has said in Madurai on September 11th 2018 evening in an interview to ‘Lotus Times’ news website.

The NCSC headed by its Chairman Mr.Ram Shankar Katharia and Vice-Chairman Mr.L.Murugan along with others went to Kerala immediately after the Commission was formed by Prime Minister Modi and Union Government in June 2017.
“I spoke to affected Dalit families in Rajesh murder case etc….and I also pulled up the Kerala State Government for having failed to file SC/ST case against culprits…..Only after our NCSC’s fast intervention to enquire many incidents of brutal murders and rape of innocent SC persons, the Kerala Government filed cases and compensation amount was given to victims…….FIRs were filed by the police,” Mr.Murugan has shared his experience.
