NATIONAL YOUTH DAY CELEBRATIONS AT RAMAKRISHNA MATH IN MADURAI
MADURAI: Rajya Sabha MP and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shri.L.Ganesan has exhorted school and college students to always respect mother and motherland in line with the culture and values of sacred land Bharath Matha.
“I am making a very important personal appeal to you all youngsters….You have to take a pledge that you will respect and love your mother and motherland India at all times. Take care of your parents and remember their sacrifices they made for your well-being,” he said.
Shri.Ganesan was speaking at the 155th birthday celebrations of great Hindu monk Swami Vivekananda organised at Sri Ramakrishna Math in Madurai on January 12 which was celebrated as National Youth Day across the country.
Explaining to the students about ‘desh bhakthi’ (patriotism) towards our motherland, he said that the culture of India is so great that we call our country as motherland and Bharath Matha as mother. “We must show our gratitude to our country because everything we require for our life comes from this great soil. Never denigrate India because it is a sacred land,” he told the large number of students who took part in the celebration.
Shri.Ganesan spoke about man-making education professed by Swami Vivekananda and also expressed concern over mushrooming of old age homes in this country. “Every country has its own identity and hence Indians should not try to emulate or copy the culture of other nations,” he stressed.
Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan, BJP State Secretary and Gandhian Thought researcher, has said that the influence of Swami Vivekananda is so great that we are celebrating his thoughts and vision even after 115 years of his passing away.
“This great monk is the real father of Indian nationalism. The seeds of our freedom struggle were actually sown by him in 1897 during his visit to Pamban bridge near Rameswaram from where he gave a clarion call to our countrymen to worship India for 50 years and exactly 50 years after that landmark speech India got its independence in 1947. If Swami Vivekananda is not there, India is not there because his ideals and doctrine are our guiding force today,” Dr.Srinivasan said.
Swami Kamalathmananda Maharaj, president, Sri Ramakrishna Math- Madurai, referred to the famous Chicago speech of Swami Vivekananda and said that it was the turning point for India in many ways since it brought world attention towards Bharath Matha.
