MADURAI: The illegal sand quarrying and daylight teak wood robbery in broad daylight was exposed to the public, media and to the police by a vigilant BJP team in Madurai district on August 30th 2018 Thursday.
This exposure at IRUMBADI VILLAGE NEAR SHOLAVANDHAN IN MADURAI DISTRICT came to light, thanks to the efforts of Madurai Rural district BJP and the party’s youth wing team who took up the issue with police and later courted arrest after they resorted to road bloackade since denied permission to go beyond in their protests. In fact, 53 protesters were DETAINED BY THE POLICE and taken away.

The protest and public demonstration to stop ILLEGAL SAND MINING ON VAIGAI RIVER AND ILLEGAL FELLING OF TEAK WOOD TREES..….was led by the BJP team of Mr.Maha.Suseendhran (BJP Madurai Rural district preisdent), Mr.S.Sankar Pandi (Tamil Nadu State BJP Yuva Morcha youth wing State secretary), Mr.Sivasakthi (Vadipatti mandal president), Mr.Muthuraman, Mr,Govindamurthy and others.

BJP Youth Wing leader Mr.Sankar Pandi who coordinated the protest from ANDIPATTI BUNGALOW Sholavandhan, along with Madurai Rural BJP district functionaries, gave an on-the-spot report to ‘LOTUS TIMES’ news website.
“On August 30th 2018, we were are ready to expose the illegal sand mining and how teak wood treas from forest department area are being illegally felled….. POLICE AND TAMIL NADU GOVERNMENT MUST INSPECT NEAR MUNIANDIKOIL AREA IN IRUMBADI VILLAGE WHERE OUR VAIGAI RIVER SAND IS BEING LOOTED through illegal sand quarrying…”, Mr.Sankar Pandi has said.
POLICE DENIED PERMISSION:
The Sholavandhan sand mining exposure by the BJP was guided by Tamil Nadu BJP State Secretary Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan who is also the Madurai Zone in-charge for the party.
“Local people in Sholavandhan area came to us to help stopping ILLEGAL SAND QUARRYING mining and asked the BJP to intervene. Police denied us permission……..We have information that AIADMK and some DMK functionaries are involved and hence the BJP wants the Madurai police and district authorities to investigate and taken proper action,” said Mr.Sankara Pandi.

Since the Sholavandhan police and local police denied permission to the BJP, the MADURAI RURAL BJP is ready to go the MADURAI DISTRICT COLLECTOR AND DISTRICT SP for their quick action to stop illegal sand quarrying in RIVER VAIGAI.
