MADURAI: The Post Graduate and Research Department of Zoology of The American College in Madurai had organized the inauguration of Prof.J.C.B.Abraham Endowment Lecture Series here today- September 19th 2024- as a glorious tribute to the inspiring teacher.
Dr.R.Dinakaran Michel, former Head of PG and Research Department, American College, had inaugurated the endowment lecture series via virtual mode while Prof.Dr.Partha Pratim Majumder, National Science Chair, Government of India, was invited to Madurai as a key resource person to deliver the endowment lecture at the national seminar on ‘Human Evolution & Culture-Inferences from Genomics’ which was organised by the department today by inviting renowned experts in this subject and Zoology department alumni of the college.
“Through this lecture series, we will be remembering Prof.Dr.J.C.B.Abraham who served the college as an inspiring teacher for several years at American College here. His teaching techniques were really awesome,” Dr.R.Dinakaran Michel has said in his inaugural address.
Dr.M.Davamani Christober, Principal and Secretary of The American College, who presided over the inaugural session, has said that Dr.JCB was a towering personality and the zoology department had taken a very good initiative of instituting an endowment series in the name of this great teacher who also served as college vice-principal.
Dr.K.R.Shyamsundar, former Director General of Police-Tamil Nadu, Dr.Rm.Pitchappan, former professor and head of Department of Immunology-School of Biological Sciences, Madurai Kamaraj University and Mr.Leonardo Prince, former senior master, Sainik School-Satara (Maharashtra) and Dr.Natarajan Sivasubramanian from USA, were among those present at the inaugural function and spoke about the greatness of Prof.Dr.J.C.B.Abraham and his contributions.
Dr.E.Joy Sharmila, Associate Professor and Head, PG & Research Department of Zoology, welcomed the gathering while Dr.P.Velladurai, Associate Professor and UG Head, Department of Zoology, had proposed a vote of thanks.
