MADURAI: The various savings schemes available in postal department and several services provided by the Department of Posts were explained to students at a Postal Awareness Programme organized by the Lady Doak College in Madurai on September 4th 2024.
Mrs.S.Meenakshi, Senior Postmaster, Head Post Office-Tallakulam, Madurai had given an overview on different savings schemes available especially for women and the pivotal role played by postal system in connecting people across the nation, a press release received from LDC has informed yesterday.
She spoke about postal savings and effective services like speed post, insurance, parcel services and logistics, and the Tallakulam Senior Post Master also urged the students and college staff to utilize these services for their personal and official needs. “I request the teachers to motivate the students for investing in postal schemes because they are the safest,” she added.
Mrs.Muthumeena from correspondence section of Head Post Office in Tallakulam spoke about insurance schemes offered by the postal department while marketing executive of Madurai Division Mr.Jaiganesh had addressed the students’ queries on postal system besides giving details of postal department such as ‘My Stamp’, postal advertisements etc.
The postal awareness programme was conducted by National Service Scheme (NSS) units of Lady Doak College, with the support of LDC Principal Dr.R.Beulah Jeyashree and Madurai Kamaraj University NSS Program Coordinator Dr.M.Pandi, the press release said.
NSS Program Officers Ms.R.Preethi Pandian (Unit-45), Ms.E.Aruna (Unit 46) and Dr.P.Silviya Reeta had taken steps for this postal awareness program along with members of their units- Ms.P.Jeba Preethi Nancy, Dr.S.Vinolyn Sylvia, Dr.H.Shyla Jenashree, Ms.Caramel John, Dr.Joy Salomi and Ms.Misma while the program was coordinated by Part V coordinators Dr.K.Sujatha and Ms.M.Lakshmi, the press release had informed.
