MADURAI: Union Defence Minister Mrs.Nirmala Sitharaman has stressed the importance of being a ‘CONSCIOUS CITIZEN’ to help people during an emergency situation and save lives especially during cardiac urgency.
“Golden Hour is very precious and we all know that.…..It is important to have a level of inner confidence to save the lives in an actual situation. Learn how to administer first aid, how to use the emergency equipment in public interest,” she said
Mrs.Nirmala Sitharaman was speaking at the inauguration of National Holistic Cardiology Conclave 2018 at Velammal Hospital in Madurai on July 28th 2018 Saturday evening.

Dr.A.Mathavan, Director – Cardiology, Velammal Hospital and chairman of the two-day conclave, Mr.M.V.Muthuramalingam, Chairman, Velammal Educational Trust and Madurai district Collector Mr.K.Veera Raghava Rao, were among those present at the inaugural function.
Stating that the Cardiology Conclave 2018 is a significant event, the Union Minister has said that the intention of teaching the people about Basic Life Support and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training programme initiated will be very useful. “I appreciate the organizing committee team of National Holistic Cardiology Conclave 2018 for conducting such a public awareness programme on how to handle cardiac emergencies and the impact will be more because the public and rural doctors in and around Madurai will come to know about AED. This is a noteworthy step,” Mrs.Nirmala Sitharaman has said.
The two-day cardiology conclave on July 28th and July 29th 2018 in Madurai Velammal Hospital is being attended by heart specialists and cardiac surgeons from India and abroad.
